Much, much better than "The Wicker Man." :-) And seriously, it's all about Neil LaBute: he makes conversation and confrontation sound so amazingly real, but it's a sophisticated simplicity and no writer I can think of comes close.

It was a great experience, I mean watching a movie right here on Vimeo was brand new and different. Hard to say why I was so excited about it, but I think it's different. I don't know, it's like sharing something... but at home, like watching a movie alone but with plenty of people at the same time. I liked it, it's great! I hope it's just the beginning. 5$ is very cheap, and means that now even good, and clever and no-mainstream movies could have a place to be seen and shared easily. I'd like to congratulate the filmakers who have dared to release their movie in a different way. Bravo.

Super strong performances, great writing and story arc--don't want to slip in any spoilers so I won't say more, I think the story let some of its power slip away but on the whole this is as good as the old SEX, LIES AND VIDEOTAPE. And I really enjoyed watching it on Vimeo.

I was impressed by the subtlety in all the performances of the women. The roles were quite different and fascinating, and they just make you feel better about yourself in terms of being able to say the things you want to say to a man who never listened or really paid attention. Many of us can definitely relate to it and learn from it. The words were perfectly laid down and acted. All the best with this. Thank you Vimeo. I'm in Argentina and would't have been able to watch it if it weren't for this.

SSSSS

I really enjoyed Jennifer Morrison in this, I just wish she could have been on longer, but I understand in terms of the plot how that wouldn't have worked. The film was good, but it was conflicting, because the main character was incredibly unlikable to me, and seemed to make it worse every time he opened his mouth. All the actors are wonderful, though, and it's definitely worth the watch! It was different, and that makes it interesting!

I really enjoyed this film and think it was/is a bargain for $5 when you would pay close to $15 in the theaters in new york....I thought that this film was so well-written and very relatable. Adam Brody played very unlikable protagonist of the film very well. But I particularly enjoyed the vignettes with Zoe Kazan and Kristen Bell -- very intense and I loved the dialogues in them. I highly recommend watching!

Outstanding. I don't think I can recall a movie (although in some way this feels more like a play), in which the dialogue is so well written and well tailored toward specific roles, and in which I could "get" the fear of the Man. This movie is intense from start to finish, and a lot of this is likely owed to how real the dialogues feel. The acting is also compelling. Each actor is out there 100% and you can feel that. I am not sure the last scene was my favorite, as it seemed almost judgemental, whereas the rest of the film is just about what is real, but overall, I am really glad I got to see this movie. It's definitely something I can recommend to those who are looking for more than just drama, but not quite non-fiction. I had no idea vimeo had such offerings and having just stumbled upon it, it was a nice surprise. I hope they keep getting content of such high quality.

Hmmm... felt a bit unfinished, but I understand its more of a character study. It felt like we were supposed to have the main character be revealed through his experiences with these women, but there wasn't much to him to begin with... so it was a bit of a let down.

SSSSS

Watching this film was a new experience, because I was prepared to have this guy grow on me, to like him, and he never becomes sympathetic. I found myself cheering on the women, saying, "Don't fall for it." The only new information we get from him as the movie progresses, is that he is as self-serving as we first suspected. I appreciated, also, the women are given an opportunity to resolve something from their past, but they leave with a lot of the same tension. That resonates because life doesn't always have the closure we want or we often see portrayed in film. Lastly, as a mother of 4 sons, this movie encourages me to teach our boys, while they are still young, to treat women with great care and to never take something from a women that isn't theirs. Great film. Thanks!

This is pretty great. Love the complexity of the women characters and the really true dialogue and acting. One thing bothers me, one little itch: Do you notice how Once Again the main character is a man, "the man", and he's on a journey - his journey. Not only that, but he travels to all these different cities where he has lived in his life, while all the women he left behind have never left those cities, are still there, have stayed behind? Have they never had journeys of their own? I would like to see that movie, of a woman on her journey, or all these women on their journeys, to all the cities she has lived in and all the men she had once loved. That being said, this movie is what it is and it is a fantastic movie, full of complexity and thoughtfulness in writing, acting, directing. And the 15 minutes of behind the scenes footage at the end really give some context, and its really great to hear from the women actors.

Wow, a movie about a douchebag who treats women like shit and then years later tracks them down to bully them into forgiving him. SNOOZE. Add to that the fact that the stage script seemed to be used, making all the acting weirdly forced and stiff and you just get a pretty poor movie overall. Also, TRIGGER WARNING for discussions of sexual assault of a child.

I have to say that I really didn't like many of these characters. But that's LaBute for you. In writing characters and dialogue that make us uncomfortable, he forces us to face aspects of ourselves and humanity that may seem better left unexplored. This must read like an odd review for a 5-star rating, but I really loved this movie in a way that is difficult to explain. The acting was superb and technical aspects of the film were artfully done. This movie made me think about relationships and humanity in a way that films rarely do. It left an impression long after credits rolled. Higher praise I can't bestow. I hope to see more from these filmmakers.

To everybody involved creating this master piece, Watching this I felt the passion injected into creating this movie, if you do decide to create part two, please do reach out to me for photography or music, I'd love to be a part of it. I enjoyed everything about the camera angles to shoot it, the image quality looks like RED, the story line made me feel a little guilty (just a tiny-tiny-tiny bit) of my past (but it is what it is). How do I put this? Don't waste your time, nor you money. The editing and cinematography boring and unoriginal. The acting was terrible. There was little to no dramatic tension. And there was certainly no satisfactory ending, the pay off. Basically this is a film glorifying the maltreatment of women by one man, looking for a bang and a buck. This film makes women out to be out right stupid. I spent the entire film waiting for it to start. So slow. It had some intriguing stories, Zoe Kazan was the only redeeming quality of this entire film. Her performance was honest and heart breaking. For this I give it 1 star. But I repeat, do not waste your money.

I Just watched it for the 5th time. The writing and direction is so subtle, that I catch interesting nuances every time I watch it. This was interesting. I realised about 20 minutes in that I was greatly disliking the film, but when I watched for about 15 minutes more it became clear that what I was greatly disliking was Adam Brody's character. And what I took from the end of it was, that's what I was supposed to feel. Here's this self-congratulating guy who sees himself at Mr Funny/Intelligent/Sensitive. As the female side of the stories rolled out, I took great relish in seeing him come to the conclusion (sort of) that's really kind of a dick. I don't want to give anything away but I was hugely pleased with the ending. I still can't say I really rate the film, but I give it kudos for being the 1st film I've got half-way through and thought, "this is garbage" which then managed to flip my opinion so I watched it through to the end.

I had never heard of Neil LaBute or this film at all before yesterday and I can' stop watching it. It's such a powerful display of broken relationships and people trying to mature. It also plays to the ineffectiveness of trying to "right wrongs" or cater to one's ego about what has happened in the past. I am truly moved by this piece. The appropriateness of a dominantly female cast and crew brought about a very intimate account of the dynamics of a relationship, and how ugly they come to end a lot of the time. I also enjoy the observation that Kristen touched on in that it is universal and "this is what humans do to humans...". I can only hope to be involved in such a project someday.

SSSSS

Disappointing. I expected more. I wouldn't call it a comedy, it wasn't funny. It was slow, sometimes boring, most of the time it was just unpleasant to watch, as the main character is not a very nice guy, to say the least. As the movie progresses we find more and more women that he treated horribly. The writing is not so good, I thought some of the dialogs were just unrealistic. All the women are supposedly strong, but in fact are very weak. With the exception of one, neither of them tell the man that he is an a*hole. They all act weird around him, instead of confronting him and getting their closure. They pretty much let him off the hook. I could not identify myself with either. As for the acting... Well, Adam Brody is ok, and is very cute, but he just doesn't pull in off as a womanizer/charmer who gets the hottest ladies whenever he wants. I liked Emily Watson and Kristen Bell. Other than that, it was nice watching a movie on Vimeo.

I thought the film was well made, the acting fine but wish the director, producer and cast had done something more worthy of their talents. Thought the story was totally unbelievable. All the women have guy's names ... seriously? And they show up in this guy's hotel room after he's been such a jerk? Male fantasy. And he lies about what he's doing because he obviously can't empathize with anyone. Ever. Which makes it a little difficult to write fiction and get paid for it. Should have been re-thought for the film - I can see why this structure would work on the stage but the language doesn't work well on film.

I really liked this movie. It made me so mad (!!!) because it was so spot on with the 'well meaning jerk' character. It's very hard to describe to someone when you meet a person like this, yet it's framed so accurately in this film. I found it thought-provoking and somewhat cathartic to watch. Totally worth the $5 and 90 minutes of my time. :) Well done, cast and crew, and thank you, Vimeo, for making it so conveniently available.

This is an excellent film. I watched it with my girlfriend and her little sister (a mature 15 year old). LaBute does an excellent job peering into human compulsion and self-importance while making it's viewers examine what it means to those who get left in the wake of that self-importance when relationships end. As for the movie itself, it does read like a play. The best parts of the theatre experience are packaged nicely into this film. The performances were nothing short of brilliant, as the casting was almost perfect. Notable standouts are Adam Brody, Jennifer Morrison, Emily Watson, and a standout performance from Kristen Bell. This is not a movie, it is an experience, a study of complex men, and a study of the complicated women in a series of brilliantly written moments.

The acting was great all-around. As a man, I felt uncomfortable about the misandry surrounding the only male character. I wish I could have had *some* sympathy for him, but what little benefit of a doubt I gave him at the beginning diminished with every scene. I found him to be dislikable after his first attempt to make amends with a woman from his past. Amazingly, I felt increasing amounts of contempt for him with each ensuing encounter. Each time I asked, "Can he be even worse than this?" and the answer was always "Yes." The exchange with Reggie was truly disturbing and yet I found myself disliking him even more in the following scenes. Knowing that contempt for someone can indicate that I might possess some of the same traits, this left me wondering about my own integrity as a man. But that is okay, sometimes art is meant to disturb, and this film did that very well.

Based on his play by the same name, Neil LaBute's script follows a successful writer (Adam Brody) who, on the eve of his wedding, travels across the country to meet up with ex-lovers in an attempt to make amends for past relationship transgressions. Crisscrossing from Seattle to Boston, he reunites with high school sweetheart SAM (Jennifer Morrison), sexually free-spirited TYLER (Mia Maestro), married college professor LINDSAY (Emily Watson), his best friend’s little sister REGGIE (Zoe Kazan), and “the one that got away" BOBBI (Kristen Bell).
