OntheBoards.tv is an on-demand website for HD-quality contemporary performance films available for stream, download or mobile viewing via individual or subscription purchase. Launched in January 2010, this first-of-its-kind site brings contemporary work to a wider public by filming top caliber performances with multiple high-definition cameras, editing the film collaboratively with the artists, and delivering them online as feature-length performance films. OntheBoards.tv has more than doubled in size with plans to continue adding multiple new performance films each year. Since its inception, OntheBoards.tv has reached audiences in all 50 U.S. states as well as in over 100 countries. Filmed at On the Boards, as well as peer theaters across the country, the performances present a snapshot of the best new works by current leaders in dance, theater and music. Before OntheBoards.tv, high-quality documentation of contemporary performance was almost impossible to find. Fans of contemporary performance have found better access to HD-quality videos of the artists they want to see regardless of where they live or their busy schedules at prices they can afford.

Each film is shot and edited with 4-5 high definition cameras by film production company Thinklab who works closely with OtB and the artists throughout the process. Participating artists and venues share all profits, offering artists not only a new method for reaching broader audiences but a new revenue stream as well. The films consist of compelling international and northwest contemporary performance including works by artists who are rarely seen in the US and works that will never be performed again. OntheBoards.tv is the only program that offers access to full-length works of its kind. We believe OntheBoards.tv will help encourage people to go see live performances and participate in the ongoing dialogue about exciting new art, technology and ideas.
