o+onomiyaki is a sound/visual collaboration between Kio Griffith and Alan Nakagawa. Based in Los Angeles CA, the duo draws from found sound from around the city and in their brains. Compositions are primarily improvised and digital-acoustic. Otonomiyaki’s goal is to create gem like works that re-introduce the familiar using sound and imagery. Sound works are often composed in addition with visual components such as video, sculpture (they have built custom instruments) and/or performance. The duo works in an experimental mutualism process. Otonomiyaki is inspired by such artists as Harry Partch, Tanizaki Junichiro, Deerhoof, Cornelius, Ornette Coleman, Takemitsu Toru, Nam June Paik, Terayama Shuji, John Cage and Melt Banana.
