    If you can get a fast enough flash, you can measure the rolling shutter numerically. You need one frame where the flash starts and ends within one frame and a second condition where the flash starts in one frame and finishes in the second. Count the lines covered in each situation. Subtract the lines in the second case from the lines in the first. If you know the total number of lines (1080) and the framerate (23.976), you can then calculate exactly how much rolling shutter there is.

    On the 5D2, it's 25ms. It looks like the challenge with the C300 will be finding a fast enough flash to actually catch some bands. It's better if you shoot a flat surface for this test, rather than something complex like a cake.

    In any case, the rolling shutter looks minimal. That new sensor is FAST. And at 1080p non-Bayer and QuadHD Bayer, it has the perfect structure for video. I can't wait to see what Canon can do with it, given a future update to the DV 3 signal processing chip.
