People and Plants International is an independent non-profit that works with local communities in different parts of the world on issues related to bio-cultural conservation, land and resource rights, and sustainable management of natural resources. We believe that cultural diversity is inherently linked to biological diversity and that effective stewardship of our Earth must involve local people. We also believe that traditional knowledge systems are critical to manage and conserve threatened landscapes and adapt to global change. We work alongside local groups to foster responses that build upon their local skills and practice. We also work at national, regional and international levels to guide policy and promote ethical and sustainable trade.
