Growing up in Montana, John Pierce’s love for all outdoor activities helped him land his first job as a professional fly-fishing guide. However, it was his passion for writing and performing music that ultimately brought him to Nashville to pursue a career in music.
An excellent songwriter, Pierce is exclusively signed to a music publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group. As a recording artist, Pierce has worked with Sony BMG and is currently in discussions for a new label deal.
John acquired his first guitar at age 15 and began writing his first songs then. His influences range from Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Van Morrison to iconic bands such as U2 and the Rolling Stones. He remains passionate about the influences of great singer /songwriters such as Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Jimmy Buffett. “Writing is important to me,” John says. “I think when you perform something you’ve written, or find a song that conveys what’s a piece of you, that people feel that and know that.”
There’s not another singer in John’s family so they can’t tell you where he gets his rich, resonant baritone voice or his natural gift of expression. While John’s wit often finds its way into his songwriting, he’s just as easily at home writing and singing heartfelt ballads. “ I love singing and performing for an audience – it’s amazing to see their reaction to the music , but I love writing songs so much I’d do it if no one ever heard them but me” says John.
Fans recognize that John Pierce is just what he appears to be, an avid outdoorsman, smart and witty crafter of songs and a man who is dedicated to his music and family.
