25 days agoJohnny St.Ours commented on JD Souther's Closing TimeThe 25-250 3.9 is a cool lens in a lot of ways. It takes an extremely modern machine through a vintage transformation. On the feature I DPd last spring, I labeled it the "Flashback Lens" as an affectionate joke. I've heard that each of them is a little different, but mine suffers from some softness and chromatic aberration. It is more difficult to focus, and it's close focus is over 2 meters. Combined with a T3.9, it's a challenge shooting something like this close-quarter and dark record store gig, although it is relatively very lightweight and compact- so I guess I had mobility on my side. I also have (and more often use) an Angenieux 20-120 T2.9 zoom which is heavier than the Red itself, but much sharper. I love my 20-120- worth every pound!
