Reporter, editor, roving rambler.

I've been taking pictures for a very long time, but I only recently (spring 2011) began dabbling with video and my only goal is to improve, at least marginally, from one little project to the next.

I'm on the road quite a bit but have little time to plan what, or when, I'll be able to shoot. So much of what is here is shot from the hip - visual notebooks, fleeting records of a given place at a moment in time. Most of the shorter pieces and vignettes are quick video notes for my blog, pirancafe.com.

UPDATE Jan-2013 - In late January 2013 I took off off on a 14-16 month around the world trip, beginning in Argentina. From there I'll work my way up overland to the U.S. Pacific northwest before heading to Asia in October.
