The Club de Planeadores de Vitacura is located in the middle of the 6 million city of Santiago, capital of Chile.
The field is at 685 meters msl and right next to it is the Cerro Manquehue. Towed to 500 meters agl, the journey into the Cordillera de los Andes starts right there.
Flights to the highest peak of the Andes, the Aconcagua (6.962 meters msl), as well as to the Mercedario and to the Tupungato are quiet common.
The Club de Planeadores Vitacura has hosted one of the FAI Qualifying Grand Prix dates in 2009 and will host the FAI World Sailing Grand Prix Finals in January 2010.
