My name is Taina, and I’m a 31 year old gal living in Vancouver, B.C. Although very much an urbanite, I would describe myself as a bit of a hippy at heart, stemming surely from having spent a large portion of my childhood in the Finnish country-side.

I am a certified tree- and seahugger, holding a Master’s degree from the University of British Columbia in Natural Resources Conservation. Marine conservation is my shtick: I work on sustainable seafood during paid hours; and at lunch, on breaks, in the skytrain, in the evenings, on weekends, and in my sleep, I am trying to raise awareness about the dangers of disposable plastics for humans, wildlife, and our environment, My blog, Plastic Manners, is where my stories live of navigation through this plastic land.

I gave up plastics January 2010. Will you do your part to end plastic pollution? Rethink and refuse disposable plastics!
