Rafael Ziah Franco is a filmmaker specializing in hybrid visual storytelling that combines High Definition video and 8mm film cinematography.

Artistically, he most often explores de-constructive alternatives to established narrative and relationships between form and motion. Professionally he is known mostly for his modern + vintage creative abilities and film works.

His films and video works have been shown internationally in film festivals such as the XXII Festival Internacional de Cine de Bogotá and his work has also been showcased in solo and group art/video exhibitions. His broadcast work has found outlets in North America through networks such as NBC, A&E, CBC and CTV.

Born in Bogotá Colombia, he grew up in an artistic household, learning traditional illustration and design. He studied TV/Film Production at the University of California Los Angeles and furthered his studies in Graphic Arts at the University of California Irvine.

Upon finishing his studies, Rafael worked in television and film in Los Angeles, Venezuela, Canada and The Bahamas as Cameraman, Editor and Motion Graphics Artist.

Currently, Rafael creates custom made films for private clients, writes dramatic scripts and creates projects that explore perspectives in short format storytelling.

Rafael lives and works in Toronto, Canada with his very talented wife Rachel, who is a producer and performer.
