Rehan Alexander Mudannayake is a 22-year old Sri Lankan filmmaker. Having recently graduated from university in England and Amsterdam - where he studied film, theatre, musicology and literature - he now lives in Sri Lanka.
Mudannayake has worked as writer, director, editor and cinematographer on a range of film projects. In 2011 he was assistant to production designer, as well as casting assistant and actor in Deepa Mehta’s film, Midnight’s Children.
He is currently writing and directing a trilogy of fictional short films that critique contemporary Sri Lankan society. He is a weekly film reviewer for the Daily Mirror newspaper and a journalist for Amazing Sri Lanka.
His film, Insecxtual, has been screened at a variety of festivals, most notably the Mosaic South Asian Film Festival in Toronto, where it competed for the Jury Prize in 2012.
