Anna Luisa D. & Bronwen M.
Anna Luisa is an anthropologist, musician and activist from Montreal, currently residing in Berkeley, California. She works with indigenous people in the south-central Peruvian Amazon, focusing on endangered language documentation. Bronwen is a visual artist from British Columbia, currently residing in Montreal, Canada. Her work focuses on relationships between the natural and manufactured world, and the permeability of bodies. Anna Luisa and Bronwen are both concerned with the impacts of the oil and mining industries on indigenous people. They traveled to Bagua, Peru in June 2010 to document the one-year memorial of the violent protest that took place there. Their first film "Remembering Bagua" (2011, 22min) was produced after their travels in Peru and launched in Montreal, Canada in March 2011.
