User Bio

My name is Res! I am a singer, songwriter, artist and all around creative woman. I started singing when I was 8 years old and my mom swears she heard me singing while still in the womb!(True Story!) Anyways I began taking voice lessons at 8 years old with a Canadian woman named Rita Cavell. She lived and had her studio 15 minutes from my house in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She was great, I was alil shy and I remember how hard she worked just to get me to smile while singing a song! Funny right? By the way i hope people REALLY read this section because I usually cut and paste my old boring bio but today i feel a bit different...Anyways so back to RIta, who taught me to smile, sing,breather properly and have stage presence and broadway show tunes! It was the best part of my week from 8 yrs. old to 13 yrs. old!

Then when I turned 14 yrs. old I decided I wanted to try something new and enrolled in Settlement Music School. There I was taught by another amazing woman named Jody Kidwell!
She taught me elegance and discipline in the form of Classical Music and Italian Arias! I studied with her for 4 years and went off to college...Temple University!

Then during my 2nd year in college I hit up Santigold and we started working on music. I got a record deal 2 years later and then 2 years after that HOW I DO was released! CLASSIC!
Then I switched labels to Geffen,wrote another album and Geffen showed NO signs of releasing it. I was a bit upset and asked to be released from them.they grant my wish. Almost a year later I was asked to join Gnarls Barkley on tour as one of their backing vocalist! I said ok and sang a little and partied alot more all over the world with Cee-Lo Green and DJ Danger Mouse!

I came back from tour and was living in Los Angeles. I got back in the swing of things and started a monthly event at The Mint and continued performing my new and old solo material in Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit,NYC blah blah blah....

I also started to branch out musically and started a couple of bands. The first one was with one of my best roadstar Miss Graph Nobel aka Graphie Rodriguez. Together with guitars,drums,vocals and sex appeal we are FLEETWOOD BLACK!
In that group we do EVERYTHING ourselves except the engineering part..lol but we write the tunes, play the guitars, play the drums and sing and give off that sex appeal of to drastic chicks that you wish were yours! lol oh and nobody is better!
Then Graphie quit, so Fleetwood Black is not quite what it used to be but is still continuing on in a form of an upcoming release renamed REFRIED MAC!

So lets see, I am recording solo material with Doc (who produced How I DO) and as well as all this and my sister and brother are new parents and my mom is the greatest! They are my newest inspirations for songs as well as finding the love of my life ...or rather him finding me...
