River Huston

My talks are appropriate for conferences, colleges, women’s groups and any audience that you feel would benefit from a personal story that demonstrates how to turn challenges into accomplishment, choices, not circumstances, determine achievement and how to appreciate our differences instead of judging them.
River Huston is an award winning performer, writer and speaker. She has traveled to college campuses through the United States and abroad speaking on issues related to sexuality, self-esteem, alcohol abuse, HIV/AIDS, and overcoming challenges. River graduated from Hunter College with a degree in Music and Physical Education in 1990. In 1995 she was honored with a Doctorate of Humanities from Albright College. In 1996 she was named Bucks County Poet Laureate and is the author of three books of poetry. She was awarded the Dorothea Lange/Paul Taylor award for A Positive Life: Portraits Of Women Living With HIV and is the creator of Goddess: A New Guide to Feminine Wisdom. River is a columnist for POZ magazine and has appeared on numerous national television shows including CNN, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, Showtime, CBS; Up to The Minute and The Montel Williams Show for her work.
