Roulette TV, a collection of video programs that captures the creative process of live performance, allowing viewers to experience Roulette’s distinctive programming from the comfort of their media screens.

Over the last thirteen years, Roulette TV has produced over 90 episodes that are broadcast weekly on Manhattan and Brooklyn cable networks, and are distributed over the Internet through Roulette’s website, Vimeo and YouTube Channels.

Featuring clips from Roulette performances, Roulette TV integrates interviews with the artists that illuminate their compositional influences, techniques and intentions. The Roulette TV collection includes many luminaries of the avant-garde as well as artists of the next generation such as Ben Greenberg, Mary Halvorson, Darius Jones, Tyshawn Sorey, Cassie Tunick, and C. Spencer Yeh.

Much of the work presented at Roulette is visually absorbing. The on-site audience has the opportunity to see how the sounds are made, how the movement is constructed, how the different forms of media interact. Roulette TV offers this experience to a world-wide audience; the interviews with the artists add a dimension to the audience’s appreciation of the artists’ enterprise and achievement.

Roulette began in 1978 as a spontaneous presentation of work by artists in a loft on West Broadway, NYC, and has evolved into an internationally recognized experimental art center. Now based in Brooklyn, Roulette supports artists through presenting a substantial and diverse program of experimental music, dance and Intermedia, commissioning new work, paying the artists professional fees, and finding artists an audience interested in learning about traditions and developments in these art forms.

Roulette has received accolades from major national and international critics as a leading New York City presenter of new music, and as one of the City’s best concert halls, offering excellent acoustics, sophisticated sound, video, and lighting equipment, and a flexible performance area that the artists can modify to their needs.
