R S Prasanna, Award Winning Filmmaker, Berlinale Delegate, & Pusan Film Festival Fellow 2009.

Recepient of the NFDC and Reelshow "Young India Filmmaker" Award in 2007, R S Prasanna is an award winning short-film maker and newspaper columnist for the Indian Express. A Gold Medal winning alumnus of L V Prasad Film and TV Academy, Chennai, Prasanna received the award for "Best Director" from the hands of A R Rahman, K Balachander and Balu Mahendra in 2008. His short film "Penn Vaesham" (English title - "Ranga Plays a Girl") which won him the award soon took him to festivals all over the world, including Italy and Russia.

In February 2009, he was invited as official Delegate to the world's biggest film festival, The Berlin Film Fetsival, as a guest of the German Government, sponsored by the Goethe Institut. In October 2009, he was invited to the Pusan Film Festival in Korea, as an official Fellow for the prestigious "Asian Film Academy" workshop, where he co-directed a Korean language short movie on HD, leading a team of 12 filmmakers drawn from across Asia.

R S Prasanna was a Jury member for the prestigious FICCI Fames Animations Awards 2010, Mumbai, for the "Visual FX" category. He is currently working on writing his first feature film in Tamil, while pursuing a dual life as a freelance screenwriter in Bollywood.

His other achievements include: appearing as a Finalist on India's biggest reality show for filmmakers, "Sony TV's Gateway to Hollywood", adjudged by Hollywood Producer Ashok Amritraj; ; Conceiving and producing a feature length documentary on his guru, Balu Mahendra, called "Masterclass with Balu Mahendra."
