When it comes to computer generated graphics, Fred Ruff wrote the book—or rather, the software! A leader in the field for over fifteen years, Ruff worked as Lead Product Designer and User Interface Designer for Autodesk’s 3DStudio Max, one of the industry’s leading 3D modeling applications. Having redesigned many aspects of the software (including modeling, particle animation, rendering and keyframing), Ruff knows it inside and out—a huge benefit when it comes to creating work that uses the technology to its full potential.
Ruff got his start as a technical director for several post production facilities in New York, has created interactive 3D graphics for video game companies in California, and has trained nationally and internationally as a training specialist and application engineer for Autodesk. He now owns and operates an animation and FX studio in Portland Oregon.
