About Us

Established in March 2010, The Sitting Room Gallery is just exactly what the name implies. Russell and Catherine Ord envisioned a comfortable place where the best surf photography could be displayed – a place where people hang out while getting inspired to pick up a camera, a surfboard, or both.

Enjoying international success with his own career, Russell knows Australian surf photographers are the best in the business. Even with easy access to some of the finest waves in the world, the crew from The Sitting Room Gallery are not shy to hop on a plane and explore other surfing havens. From the relatively close Indonesia to the more far-flung South Africa and Hawaii and everything in between, the team gets the image and brings it back home to Cowaramup.

The Sitting Room Gallery is more than just great surf photography. Each artist shares a passion for the environment using their creative skills in many different mediums. That’s why you’ll find jewellery, art, house wares and clothing in the gallery, too. The collection is diverse but with a thread of excellence through all of it.

With a strong desire to support local artists and businesses, The Sitting Room Gallery is always on the lookout for new talent. By developing a creative design space, our aim is to encourage new talent and mix it up with established artists, inspiring everyone to greater things in the process.
