Ryan Charles
Ryan Charles (director/editor): Ryan Charles graduated from the HARTT School of Theater in 2007 with a BFA in Acting. He has appeared in over 20 stage productions ranging from children’s theater at The Penguin Repertory Theater in NY (called the “gutsiest little theater” by the New York Times) to a 6 week run of “A Christmas Carol” in 2006 at the Hartford Stage Company in Connecticut. In addition he has worked extensively behind the scenes, crewing over 20 stage plays as well.
Ryan turned to filmmaking his junior year of college and his first film, AMERICAN STANDARD, was an official selection at the 2007 Student Films Across America film festival and also played in NYC at New Filmmakers Forum. For his first feature Ryan collaborated with Chip Rybak (who would go on to co-create BAD APPLES), a fellow classmate and actor at the HARTT School to create DROP DEAD DRUNK, a zany, off the wall exploration of what happens when a group of high schoolers plan the end of the year party and everything goes dreadfully wrong. In the summer of 2008, along with his cousin Frank Licata, he founded Nitty Gritty Studios in NYC where they recently produced, in conjunction with NYEH Entertainment and Sid & Nancy Productions, BAD APPLES, a television series pilot surrounding a group of four artists in their late twenties, living in New York City, struggling to make their artistic dreams come true. Ryan lives in Queens.
