Born and raised in the Mojave Desert California, Ryan started creating art with video at the age of 16. He created “Skater Brothers” a short skate video that won Best Music Video at the High Desert Film Festival 2002.
At age 19 he was accepted into Inner-City Filmmakers Film School at USC. A film school only for underprivileged inner-city minorities. There he wrote and directed the short “Saving Time” witch won Best in Show at the High Desert Film Festival 2005.
Later he was accepted into Film Independents “Project Involve” witch aims to bring people of diverse backgrounds into the film industry. He studied under critically acclaimed cinematographer Brad Rushing. (bradrushingdp.com)
Ryan’s professional work ranges from camera operator and editor for CBS TV 2 Palm Springs to Assistant Camera Operator and Lighting on independent features. (Later Effect, Hollywood Kills, The Wrath) Later Ryan went into Animation Production working for Dreamworks/Aardman and FOX. (Flushed Away, The Simpsons Movie)
Now living in North San Diego County Ryan produces his own work. Mostly non-narrative video art, comprising moving images with audio. Highly influenced by the punk rock creative ethos of the 80’s, his work is generally quite different from, and often opposed to, the practices of mainstream commercial film.
