Saguaro Road
Fairfax, VA, March 31, 2008 — Direct Holdings Americas Inc. announces that it will launch a new label imprint this summer, Saguaro Road Records. Direct Holdings also markets and sells audio and video entertainment products under the Time Life brand, which it uses under license from Time Warner Inc. Saguaro Road Records will make its debut with a new album from Rebecca Lynn Howard, one of Nashville’s most dynamic and successful young singer/songwriters. No Rules will be released in June 2008.
The label will be distributed in retail channels in the U.S. exclusively by WEA Corp., Warner Music Group Corp.’s U.S. sales and retail distribution company.
“Saguaro Road Records is dedicated to working with and presenting highly talented and uniquely American artists” said Direct Holdings Senior Vice President of Retail Mike Jason. “We are incredibly fortunate to have Rebecca Lynn as our first Saguaro Road release.” “Even in a changing market, success starts with great music,” he continues, “and from there, we offer artists our unparalleled success in direct sales to consumers as well as all the traditional label sales and marketing efforts.”
John Esposito, President and CEO of WEA Corp., added, “It is an exciting new era for our retail distribution partner as they launch Saguaro Road Records with a growing roster of innovative emerging and established artists. We are delighted to be a part of this exciting new venture by expanding upon our relationship with their team and continuing to offer our sales and marketing expertise as well as the full support of our extensive distribution network.”
Named after the picturesque and particularly stalwart southwestern cactus, Saguaro Road Records will focus on artists that have a uniquely American, roots oriented sound. The first signing is Nashville-based singer/songwriter Rebecca Lynn Howard, a 28-year-old who scored a top 5 Country album, Forgive, in 2002. As a songwriter, her songs have been recorded by music legends Trisha Yearwood, Reba McIntire, Patty Loveless and John Michael Montgomery. The second Saguaro Road release, also in June, will be Edwin McCain’s Nobody’s Fault But Mine, a homage to the great soul songs of the 1960’s. Well known for such hits as “I’ll Be,” “I Could Not Ask For More,” “Solitude” and “Hearts Fall”, Edwin has sold millions of albums worldwide and continues to be one of the most prolific touring artists on the road today.
