Sandakan Rugby Club Sabah (SRC) was officially granted registration by the Registrar of Societies on 24th February 2005. We are just over 7 years old.
It was formed to cater to the needs of the local rugby community.
We also have our own rugby squad known as the SRC Borneo Eagles.
Shortly after its registration, things began to move rapidly forward.
A clubhouse building, rugby pitches and other facilities were built on 40 acres of prime land at Bandar Utama, Mile 6, Jalan Utara, Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia.
Our facilities are one of the very few in Malaysia that were planned, designed and purpose-built for the game of rugby.
We also have other facilities like an international-sized futsal court. There is also a pool table, table tennis tables, table soccer and dart boards for members and their guests to enjoy.
There is also a Sunset Bar for that relaxing evening drink.
Next door to the futsal court, currently under construction, is a 4 storey building which will house a canteen, coaches’ quarters and a huge dormitory to accommodate up to 60 visiting players. It will especially benefit school children coming from the rural areas to take part in rugby training or tournaments held in Sandakan.
A fully-equipped gymnasium is in the process of being constructed. Up-to-date training equipment will be installed to make it a modern fitness centre.
Meanwhile to cater to the needs of the ever increasing number of rugby fans, a large covered seating gallery is under construction at the far end of the pitch, facing the main building. Complementing this will be a special video/photo tower, built to ensure good live coverage of events by videographers and photographers.
There is also ample carpark space all around the area.
To summarise, SRC possesses and manages a modern facility dedicated to the game of rugby.
