Lorenz Schattenmann is a European multimedia artist, writer and freelance journalist, born in 1974. He started practicing photography at 11, thanks to a camera he received on his birthday. He got his first guitar at 14 and immediately formed a band. A year later, at 15, he did his first steps as a (short) movie director. His first article was published when he was 17.
Characterized by a certain distance he wishes to keep between him and the art community, Lorenz also tries to avoid being trapped in a genre or style.
However, some trends do appear: Lorenz's music is mostly avant-garde/experimental and often minimalist, while his visual works show strong connections with expressionism.
Self-described as «a nomad, always passing-by», Lorenz has lived in Switzerland, France, UK, USA, Canada, Hong-Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan and Japan. He also enjoyed long stays in Singapore, Thailand and The Philippines.
The numerous encounters he had during his journeys, along with his personal experiences, fed his writings. He self-published numerous short-stories that he's planning on reissuing.
As a conclusion, a short note:
«I don’t have any blinkers. Which is a blessing and a curse. My style is usually difficult to define. I often take directions very few people expect me to take. This is the result of my multiple, sometimes rather opposite influences. They are constantly on a collision course. And in the midst of chaos, in the aftermath of the explosion, there lie my works.»
Lorenz Schattenmann does not have any videos yet.
Hi Gordon, Just read your review, which is as usual very well written and useful. I have 2 questions I wish to ask: - Did you notice any sensor overheating while shooting? - Any rolling shutter issue? It's getting late, so I hope I haven't overlooked…
