Paula is an Irish actor who grew up in Zimbabwe, Zambia and spent 3 years in South Africa, where she did a BA in Drama, English and politics. She worked in community Theatre and explored African masks in physical theatre. Paula was the Artistic Director of the Chimanimani Arts Festival.
She has been living in Cork since 2000. Since her return to Ireland, she has worked in Theatre, Short film and has just completed a central role in her first feature shot on location in Cork directed by Independent Film Maker Owen Dara LA.
Paula is a huge fan of Mike Leigh and Ken Loach films and is very interested in the relationship that develops between the actor and the director. She is inspired by David Lynch who plays with the medium of film, Lars Von Trier, who constantly pushes the boundaries,' Anti Christ is both stunning and horrific. it is exquisitely shot.' Paula is a huge admirer of Charlotte Gainsborg as an actor and Charlotte Rampling. She has recently started following Steve McQueen's films. 'Hunger' is a masterpiece. I Love his work and actor Michael Fassbender. Then there is work of Woody Allen, who is a prolific film maker and great script writer.' He is an actors director.'
Paula follows Jamie Thraves and is very excited about the up and coming film makers From Cork, Ireland -Oonagh Kearney, Cris Cullen, Award winning Mark Cogan, and Damien McCarthy to name a few.
Paula is inspired by Peter Brook, Charlie Chaplin, Catherine Hepburn, Michael Chekhov, Meisner, Lecoq, Beckett, Athol Fugard , Ntozake Shange and Shakespeare.
