Born Fuhyda Moneak Rogers, Silhouette aka Hotta stepped on the music scene in 1994 and paved the way for the current plentitude of female MC's that now exist in her hometown of San Diego, Ca. Signed to Jungle Records at that time, she recorded with producers Steve "VMF" Viciolus, Cricet, QDIII (Quincey Jones III, producer of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme music) and UK producer Pola Bear. Her 1st single release was called "I Got Tha Fonk" (produced by VMF.) Released in 1995, "I Got Tha Fonk" was in heavy rotation for several months on Jammin Z-90, the only hip-hop radio station in San Diego. Although Silhouette aka Hotta started her career as a hard core/gangster/battle rapper, in 2003 she relocated with her 3yr old daughter to Seattle, WA. It was in Seattle where she began her spiritual transformation and started to write and record inspirational/gospel music, also called "Holy Hip Hop" . In 2010 she released a gospel album called "On Fire For The Lord", temporarily dropping the alias "Silhouette" and just using her birth nickname "Hotta".
Although many tracks were recorded prior to "On Fire For The Lord" Silhouette aka Hotta's 1st album was untitled and was never released. Sihouette is also known for her contribution to the NEW WEST (2001), a compilation/mixtape consisting of the hottest artist in San Diego. Her songs "Spitting Game" (produced by Cricet) and "Hot Cats" ft Krown King were local favorites.
More recently, Silhouette aka Hotta has just finished recording her 2nd official album "From A Female Perspective", a Joey Dixon Production. This album is expected to be released independantly Fall 2012. She was also 1st place winner of The San Diego Artist Search, which was held September 26, 2012. The San Diego Artist Search is a monthly competition in which 25 artist compete for a grand prize of $500. This competion is put together by San Diego DJ, DeeJay Bille Knight.
In addition to being a recording artist and songwriter, Silhouette aka Hotta also has aspirations to be the CEO of her own natural haircare company HOT HAIR by HOTTA, and in 2010 she started her own clothing line called FAITH FASHIONED, which features blinged out t-shirts,jeans, ect... all containing inspirational messages and images.
Silhouette aka Hotta is also a mother of 3, and so she does everything with the hopes of leaving behind a legacy for her children
