Lewis Smithingham is British American filmmaker based out of New York City. Lewis Smithingham, has released three feature rock documentaries that have received international distribution by Universal and several music videos that have aired on music video channels globally. Lewis Smithingham received his BA in Film Production and Theory from UC Santa Cruz, where he studied under Chip Lord (Ant Farm), Gustavo Vasquez and Shelly Stamp. He has a Masters of Fine Arts in Video & Film from the School of Visual Arts. His Master's thesis advisors were Amy Taubin and filmmaker Guy Maddin. He is also a graduate of Werner Herzog's Rogue Film School. As a director, he is interested creating hybrid forms that meld experimental film, documentary and narrative cinema into a single form.
