Michael Ross Robinson is an independent television Producer/Director based in Singapore. In addition, Michael is also the owner and Managing Director of the Singapore based production company Squid Ink Media Asia, an extension of his previous Australian company Squid Ink Media.
Since beginning a career in television in 1985, Michael has worked across a vast range of disciplines in television and consistently produced high rating factual Food/Travel/Lifestyle/Corporate television programs around the world.
Through his role as a Director/Producer he has a proven track record of creating hundreds of hours of high quality ‘audience favorite’ original television that has sold extensively worldwide. This includes the award winning international cooking series, Five Star Cooking, Food Source Neil Perry, (BBC acquired for broadcast on BBC2), Fresh & fast, Best Wan, Chef on the Road with Chef Ryan Clift, Sake with Will Studd, and more than 50 episodes of the highly successful Cheese Slices series with Cheese Guru, Will Studd. All his series have achieved consistently high ratings and international broadcast sales in multiple markets.
Over the past two decades Michael has Directed and filmed across much of Asia, Europe and the United States and has extensive television experience as a Senior Cine-cameraman, FCP/Avid editor, Director, Producer, Series Producer and Production Executive. Over 95% of Michael’s programs have been self created or co-created specifically for clients.
Michael also served as Head of Production for XYZ Networks in Australia, the owners of the Lifestyle Channel, Lifestyle Food, Arena, Music channels etc and has extensive experience as a manager in subscription/corporate television. His last staff position was as Senior Producer/ Production Consultant for the Asian Food Channel creating there first long form cooking series Best Wan and also overseeing the Wan Wedding documentary, currently broadcasting on the AFC channel. His company is currently developing a range of original productions and co-productions for the South East Asian region.
In addition to his various staff positions Michael has worked independently with numerous corporate clients including Qantas, Jetstar, News Limited, Buildcorp, Campbells, De longhi, Lavazza, Pizza Hut on a range of corporate documentaries and product video’s. Michael has an excellent ‘hands on’ understanding of Production and Post Production and enjoys the challenge of creating highly innovative media content for clients, in particular creating successful new formats in Asia for the world market.
