My mantra is to create simple yet effective design that solves my clients’ problems. My background stems from a degree in visual communications and field experience that includes editorial design and website development and design.

In 2008, two months before graduating college, I opened my own design firm, Creative Improv. CI offers web programming and graphic design services to a variety of clients, from up-and-coming musicians to churches and universities. Together with my creative director (my high school band teacher with whom I share a love of jazz music and saxophone), I create memorable, results-oriented websites, logos, and more. Establishing an effective web and brand presence for clients through creative design is what I do every day.

Through successful partnerships with the marketing department, I’ve created several new websites for the university – iconnect, Still Magazine online, and news releases – of which, iconnect received the CASE District IV Bronze Award for Excellence in Alumni Websites and second place in Best Website/Web-based Publication from the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. Most recently, I’m part of a team that is re-envisioning ATSU's website and targeting solutions to design and function challenges.

My creative muscle is not only flexed with web and graphic design, but I also enjoy creating motion graphics for ad campaigns. Photography is yet another skill I’m constantly honing by learning to shoot technically-sound images.

My design philosophy is that form should follow function, borrowing from Hillman Curtis’ advice on design: “A [web] design's form should follow its function, but that doesn't mean function should erase form.” Form and function are mirrors of design versus programming. A successful website doesn’t allow one to override the other.

Even outside of work I enjoy sharpening my creative skill set. Music continues to inspire me, and I spend free time jamming out on the saxophone or guitar and going to concerts. Photography is my newfound obsession.
