Steven began his professional career with a bit of irony, aggravated he quit a dead-end job in retail only to land a rare internship (not to mention a paid one at that) just blocks away the following week. There he cut his professional teeth art directing on MTV, Vietcong for X-box. His extensive portfolio covers a broad spectrum of brands such as American Express, Nautica Jeans, Pepsi DJ Division, MTV, Johnny Walker, Tanqueray, Crown Royal, and cosmetic brands such as Elizabeth Arden, Georgio Armani Beauty, Revlon and a host of other diverse clients. Though recognized as a motion graphics designer, Steven now applies his talents toward the art of directing indie music videos. Basically, he’s a one man army, who conceptualizes, is his own cinematographer and editor. He says, “it was just a natural progression for [him] to merge live action and motion design”. As you would expect, he has recently taken things even further, by delving into live action, green screen shoots.
Steven always makes it a point to credit his step-father Ray and his best friend, who went by the bald-faced name “Cowboy Willy,” for recognizing his natural talent and furthermore encouraged him to discover that gift when he was only a preschooler. He wanted to take his natural drawing ability to the next step when he decided to major in Art at Washington Irving high school. He later did a brief stint at the New School Parsons School of Design but decided not to continue pursuing a degree. However, during his short stay there he established a lifelong friendship with a gem called Photoshop and all the friends in the Adobe suite. His sources of inspiration include director Guy Richie, Syndrome Studios, and daughter Sofia. Steven lives in his native Brooklyn, New York.
