Corey Fischer, actor, writer and director, has been creating and performing theatre for over forty-five years. In 1978 he co-founded The Jewish Theatre San Francisco (formerly, Traveling Jewish Theatre), with whom he has collaborated on more than two dozen works. TJT will formally close in 2012. Most recently, he wrote and directed In the Maze of Our Own Lives, based on the history of the Group Theatre.
Corey conceived and acted in the 2009 production of 2 X Malamud, and in 2007, Corey played Willy Loman in TJT’s groundbreaking production of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, the company’s first production of a classic American play which received glowing reviews and was on several “best productions” of the year lists
Corey has worked with the legendary teacher and actor, Jeff Corey, visionary directors Robert Altman and Joseph Chaikin, and the extraordinary actor and member of Peter Brook’s C.I.R.T., Bruce Myers. He was most recently seen in Theatreworks’ The Chosen and appears in the 2012 release, Five Year Engagement with Jason Siegel and Emily Blunt.
