studioWOK was founded in early 2009 in Milan by Marcello Bondavalli, Nicola Brenna, Paolo Cappellini and Carlo Alberto Tagliabue.
The office focuses its research on architecture, design and landscape with a focus on sustainability, housing and public space quality. studioWOK is also involved in academic research at the Politecnico di Milano, collaborating with the Prof. Stefano Guidarini.
In 2009 studioWOK won the Premio FBM 2009 award and was profiled in Young Blood 09, a publication on young Italians awarded for achievements in creative fields, edited with the support and patronage of the Ministero della Gioventù (Ministry of Youth).
In 2010 studio WOK won the competition Decò 2010. The prototype “Alì”, a system of public seating and lighting was exhibited at Fuorisalone, during the Salone del Mobile and the project was published in Young Blood 2010. Always in 2010 studioWOK received an honourable mention in the international competition “AAA Architetticercasi 2010” and the firm was selected among the 200 young Italians to attend to the “TNT Festival dei giovani talenti”, that took place in Rome under the sponsorship of the Ministero della Gioventù.
In 2011 the firm started the first construction site in Verona and was invited to exhibit during the Fuorisalone 2011. In September the studio was team leader at the international workshop Ecoweek in Milan.
In 2012 studioWOK received an honourable mention in the international competition Europan 11 in Sverige (Sweden) and won a second prize in the competition for the new town square in Palù, Verona.
