The Silliman University Creative Writing Center believes in the impact and value of literature and creative writing in regional and national development, and puts in utmost importance the work and vision of creative writers.

The Center is named the Edilberto K. Tiempo and Edith L. Tiempo Creative Writing Center (EKT-ELT CWC), in honor of two late outstanding Sillimanians—one of whom is a National Artist for Literature—who are world-renowned for their excellence in the fields of literature and creative writing, as well as for their exemplary commitment to develop the craft of creative writing among generations of Philippine writers through the Silliman University National Writers Workshop, the oldest creative writing workshop in Asia.

MISSION:
The EKT-ELT CWC is a necessary response to a specific need for artistic training and literary outlet for persons with creative writing potential, cognizant with the University’s mission-vision to provide total education for all, including the larger communities.

VISION:
The EKT-ELT CWC seeks to become a leading literary center that develops and fosters a vibrant creative writing culture in Silliman University, as well as the region, the country, and the Asia-Pacific.
