Surfing Western Australia was established in 1964 and is one of WA's major sporting organisation. For over 40 years Surfing WA has been the governing body for all forms of surfboard riding in Western Australia, including shortboards, longboards, bodyboards, and stand up paddle boards.
From it early origins as a sport, surfing is now enjoyed by recreational, competitive and professional surfers across the state. Surfing WA is actively involved in all levels of the industry, from developing educational programs, providing pathways initiatives, and hosting local, state, national and international events. Across all programs, Surfing WA reaches over 250,000 Western Australians and millions of people interstate and overseas each year.
