Nick Kalish (22), is a Los Angeles filmmaker and artist with a BFA in Film/Video from Emily Carr University. On nearly every project he has produced thus far, he has maintained the majority of creative control through writing, directing, cinematography, and picture editing. His inspiration comes from the surreal, the banal, and the feelings of dreams. Immersion in these feelings is key in his body of work, supported by a strong aesthetic sense developed over almost a decade of instruction within a contemporary arts setting. Upon discovering the raw creative potential of stereoscopic cinema, coupled with its immersive qualities, he dove head-first into the medium. Courses, workshops, research, and an internship with the s3D centre at ECU have all prepared him to create HOTBOX, the first stereoscopic short film for Nick Kalish, as well as for Emily Carr University.
