CHASING THE DREAM - A STEREOSCREEN PRODUCTION www.stereoscreen.de www.facebook.com/stereoscreen www.timhahne.de It was tough. For the drivers. For the teams. And also for us... The 2013 edition of the 24 Hours Nürburgring has been a fight against extreme weather conditions. The race had to be stopped in the night because of heavy rain and fog. In the end it was a 15 hour race... After the re-start in the morning, the rain kept pouring down on the Eifel. This film is a tribute to all the people that love the "Ring" and this very special race. The campers that defied the mud and moisture. The drivers that were couraged enough to stay on the throttle with zero visibility and hardly any grip. And the mechanics that were struggling with their tiredness. Everyone was chasing his personal dream... Here's the track list: The whole thing starts with Sigur Ros and "Takk" that's blended into Lusine Lci's "Headwind". The race gets underway with "Hyena" by the Cinematic Orchestra. FC Kahuna takes us into the night with "Hayling", followed by Lusine Lci with "Stones Throw." The Bloody Beetroots give us their wake up call with "Butter", then "Neon" again by Lusine Lci. Last track is "All That You Give" by the wonderful Cinematic Orchestra. Hope you like it! Special thanks go out to our "Dream Team" that braved the weather: Julius Jacoby // Karsten Schnölzer // Nick Hahne // Siegfried Breuer // Thomas Nösner // Rico Novara

7200 single pictures, 36 locations, 24 hours, one city: Stuttgart. Within two months the world’s first 24-hours-hyperlapse has been filmed. My Nikon D5100 with a Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105 mm zoom-lense took more than 7200 photos. Consequently, I had to move my tripod and search for the right pictures 7200 time. 36 flying timelapse-sequences are the result. Combined, they represent 24 hours in Stuttgart. You can find a map with all 36 locations here: mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zTqu0kGa_oU4.kAljLccKvwg0 That's my first 24-hours-timelapse representing Hamburg: vimeo.com/urbanlifetimelapse/24hourshamburg A film by Yves Pascal Eckhardt www.yvespascaleckhardt.de www.facebook.com/yvespascaleckhardt www.vimeo.com/yvespascaleckhardt www.instagram.com/yvespascaleckhardt Music by nemelka soundcloud.com/nemelka-official facebook.com/nemelkaofficial The film was part of my Bachelor’s thesis at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Design, Media & Information, Department of Media Technology, study course Media Technology. 24 hour time lapse in our dorm room at the University of Washington. From midnight to midnight. Fun times! We left my computer screens on at night just so the camera had some light. We don't normally do that :) Camera: Shot with a D300 and a 10.5mm fisheye @ f2.8. One picture per minute Lights: American DJ Mystic LED, Chauvet Vue 1.1, American DJ P36 pin spot (x2) Music: Both songs by Jack Johnson, "Belle" and "We're Going To Be Friends"

Blog post on this here: http://sciblogs.co.nz/seeing-data/2010/11/25/mapping-a-day-in-the-life-of-twitter/ Last week I hooked a computer up to the Twitter data streaming API and, over the course of a day, grabbed every tweet that had geographic coordinates. I wrote a Python script to parse the 2GB of JSON files and used Matplotlib with the Basemap extension to animate 25 hours of data on a world map. The resulting animation plots almost 530,000 tweets -- and remember these are just tweets with geo-coordinates enabled. I recommend you full-screen this video, turn scaling off and high definition on. The animation begins at 5am on November 18, Greenwich Mean Time (United Kingdom). This corresponds to midnight Eastern Standard Time, 9pm Pacific Time (Nov 17) and 6pm in New Zealand (Nov 18). There are some interesting things to note: - It is possible to infer the passage of the sun across the map as data begins to stream out of mobile phones and desktops and previously dark patches of the map begin to glow white. - At 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 GMT waves of tweets pass across the United States from East to West. This is an automated Twitter service that tweets local news for specific ZIP codes. - Turn your attention to Indonesia. Jakarta glows as brightly as New York and San Francisco. - Note the black spots. With the exception of a few cities, such as Lagos and Johannesburg, Africa remains the dark continent. Each frame of the animation represents one minute of tweets. The animation runs at ten frames per second. I represent each tweet as a small white circle at two percent opacity. At the moment a tweet occurs I plot it at ten point size. Every minute that passes I drop the marker size by one point until it disappears. Many thanks to Pierre Roudier ( http://twitter.com/#!/pierreroudier ) for his sage counsel and bug spotting skills.

"50% icy terror, 50% fun" was how I described my first lap of the Strathpuffer... The Strathpuffer is a 24 hour winter mountain bike race in northern Scotland. I rode it as the first event in my year of microadventures (see: http://goo.gl/lyg6I for an explanation). I was in a team of four (team howies) and, in between laps, did a bit of filming. Trying to do "participatory video" is frustrating, but an essential compromise so long as I want to be involved in the things I am filming. There is great scope for making a superb little Strathpuffer film. The variety of terrain and exhausted but determined riders makes for a great story. Unfortunately I was a) riding, b) limited only to filming one little bit of the course and c) knackered. The Strathpuffer had everything that I look for in an endurance race: it is tough, it’s a bit daft, it’s in a beautiful landscape, and the organisers and competitors are all friendly. The tannoy system at the main tent blasted out music throughout the race. The song I have used on this video -Springsteen's 'No Retreat, No Surrender'- was playing at the start of the race and seemed apt for 24 hours of icy, muddy, dark idiocy.
