THEME: Washing the dogs. I love animals my wife doesn't. Enough said! PROJECT: I love my job as a staff pastor and service program director at Palm Valley Church. I feel so blessed to serve along side of the people I do and serve God in the capacity that I do. Lately I have been having a blast taking and editing video with my DSLR. I love to explore that creative side of who I am and I love to create meaningful stories and capture great moments. So I was inspired by Mr. Grant Peelle to create 30 videos in 30 days (vimeo.com/26944350). My goal is to become a better story teller and force myself to really think through various techniques and pre-production process. With each video I will share the general theme I was after or what inspired me along with a few other notes I see fit to share. CHALLENGE: The big challenge for this project was setting up for shots that would be captured without anyone behind the camera. So with with assistance on one monopod and another tripod I was able to set up a couple different angles to provide a little bit of variety with the shots. With the 35 mm lens I usually shoot with I dropped the aperture way down to 1.8 (I love the shallow depth of field). The problem with that is you really need an eye on the viewfinder to get the right stuff in focus. Most of the footage I ended up with wasn't. I was able to salvage enough to make it work but in hindsight I should have opened up the aperture a bit an bought myself a little bit more wiggle room with my focal point. Again this time I mixed in a little different editing technique with the quick cuts mid-way through the song. I was kind of at a loss to do and had that thought come to mind. I think it at least semi worked but this is another case of I may look at it months from now and wonder what I was thinking.

I went on a one-day-trip with my dear friend and teacher colleague, Isabel, to Acapulco, Mexico. It was during my 30 day challenge, so I had to take a class that day. So fortunately Isabel was willing to teach a whole 90 minute class, right there, in the sunshine sand of Acapulco Beach. awesome :o)
