I had the chance to work with the amazing Blinkink on this hilarious music video for Police Dog Hogan! Blink brought me in to paint and texture the 3D-printed mug faces used for replacement animation. So much fun! www.mfriends.org Upper School Physics Teacher Tim Clarke recently visited Teri Kaiser's First Grade class to introduce them to 3D printing. As part of their class unit on snow, First Grade students have the opportunity to use the school's 3D printer to design and print their own snowmen. Tim showed the students how the printer works from drawn designs to create its products. The First Graders are now drawing individual snowmen designs, and Upper School students will help them digitize them. The First Grade students will then have the opportunity to watch each of their snowmen being printed, as the 3D printer will stay in their classroom throughout the process.

              • MegaMax printing with new X-axis, BullDog XL extruder and E3D V6 hot-end

I just installed the new X axis in MegaMax- it now uses a linear guide and GT2 belt drive instead of the 1/2 round guide rails and 5mm pitch belt. It is also being driven by a DSP based stepper driver, as is the Y-axis. The connection to the extruder carriage is via a flex ribbon cable. The machine is being controlled by a SmoothieBoard. This cube was printed with 0.3mm layers and everything was set to 50mm/sec in slic3r. The only complaint I have about the E3D V6 hot-end is that the fan is very delicate and the screws used to hold it on the duct require a lot of force to drive. I had to superglue two of the three fan motor supports. I'll be ordering another fan ASAP.
