    A film by Clarence Lockett and Daniel Twieg The first Black police officer to serve on the Birmingham force, which was heavily Klan-affiliated, faced discrimination on the job, but helped break an institution that did not protect and serve all Birmingham citizens. Birmingham's all-white police did not aggressively investigate the many bombings and shootings of activists' homes and churches, and, at times, actively participated in threats, beatings, and harassment throughout Black neighborhoods.
