                    27:20

from The New School / Added

Lang Dance Fall 2011 Performance On and Ever After Choreography by: Juliette Mapp Lighting design by: Joe Levasseur Music by: Dirty Projectors & Bjork, On and Ever Onward; Morton Feldman, Why Patterns? Performed by: Sophie Bromberg, Stormy Budwig, Jasmine Cohen, Emily Deren, Claire Johannes, Jessica Lynch, Jean McLocklin, Laura Scatena Romero, Kathryn Thomson, Brook Townsend Choreographer’s Note: Our rehearsals took place in the evenings following long days of classes. Often when I would show up to class the students would be resting or dancing to loud music (I first heard the song "On and Ever Onward" at one of these pre-class impromptu dances). On and Ever After is inspired by the energized body and the restful body that I witnessed before rehearsals began. Both struck me as expressive, necessary, and beautiful. The individuality of how those energies reside and manifest in each dancer is what moved me. – Juliette Mapp Situated in the Arts major at Eugene Lang College, the Dance program offers a unique undergraduate dance curriculum centered on recent developments in the field, combining intensive practice and performance opportunities with a rigorous liberal arts education.
