Along with Dillon Pranger, we research the arduino as out topic while interning at Gensler Los Angeles. We had no prior knowledge to how an arduino operates or the syntax of the programming language. We split the project into two phases. Phase 1 consisted of researching all the type of boards and sensors for the arduino, while Phase 2 consisted of developing a small experiment with the arduino board and some sensors. During the development phase, we had a side research project that spawned during a conversation of modeling a doubly curved surface cheaply. The housing of the RGB LEDs is the result of this. It shows 4 methods of representation of a doubly curve surface – contouring, waffling, triangulating, and stepping. Each shows its advantages and disadvantages. Then we developed the arduino system to illuminate RGB LEDs with a temperature sensor. We use a motion sensor to turn on the system when it detects motion within the space. The temperature sensor is coded to change the color of the 100 RGB LEDs according to the temperature in the model shop (magenta being the coldest, while red is the hottest).

NETWORK_LA transit Network_LA Transit is a conceptual design response by Gensler Los Angeles to an open invitation by Sci-Arc, The Architect’s Newspaper and LA Metro to shift people from their cars to public transit. Increasing the movement of people, not cars should be the goal of any public transit initiative. For this ambitious project, Gensler Los Angeles proposes an integrated set of ideas to adapt the current system to improve its performance at the various scales based on user needs. The belief is that a more responsive system and an improved user experience ultimately leads to the means to meet that challenge.

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
