Heather has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Loyola University Chicago and a Master's degree in Biology and Biomedical Sciences (Plant Biology) from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was a PhD candidate working on plant molecular evolution. She has been invited to speak on career planning by the Chicago Chapter of the Association for Women in Science and the Medical College of Wisconsin, and wrote about her own experience leaving a PhD program for Science Careers.
