2013 Nike SbA Am Series Qualifiers Stop #6 – Osborne Saturday 23rd of January Words: Morgan Campbell Photos: Matty Hooker Video: Shane Fowler + Jared Nicholson We flew into Adelaide on a dry, sunny Friday morning. At this point it was just our filming virtuoso Shane Fowler and I. We picked up the van and first stop was the house of certified Australian skateboarding legend Cale Nuske. Cale was locked in alongside Am Champ Sam Tran to be a judge for Saturday’s sixth qualification stop but unbeknownst to him he was also to be our Adelaide guide on this Friday. Upon arrival Shane and I usually putt around and film few time lapses for the intro of the video clip. Cale was to help us locate our locations to lens lurk. At his house we paused for a good minute to see Cale’s collection of pro models up on his wall. Boards by the likes of Aussie artists such as Paul Brabenec and Marty Baptist, amongst other internationally designed Cliché goodies. As we gazed we asked Cale to take us to some places with good views or iconic status. continued here: http://sba.org.au/Blog/2013-nike-sba-am-series-sa-qualifier-results

After two months of qualifiers that took us from coast to coast through six states and one territory The 2012 Nike SbA Am Series climaxed at the Skatepark of Melbourne this past Saturday March the 31st. Twenty-two Juniors and twenty-three Opens took to the shapes of SPoM with no hesitation and laid it down giving us a vivid indication of the incredible local level of today’s (and tomorrow’s) skateboarding. As you will see in the footage and photos: the park houses many obstacles catering for all types of skaters, and every single one of them copped a thrashin’. There are Euro gaps, hubbas of all sizes, spines, whoopdees, vert quarters (with massive drops off the back), bank to walls, square rails, round rails, hips, bank to blocks, out ledges, manual pads, L-blocks, bumps to ledges and China banks. There were also a couple of new additions: a smallish wheelchair ramp and a new pyramid / fun box contraption. The whole course had just been painted in a fresh black n white and once it was visually garnished for the event looked, it better than ever. Stop number six for the Nike SbA Am Series was the South Australian Qualifier and was held last Saturday at the fresh Osborne Skatepark. Osborne is one of the smoothest parks you’ll ever lay eyes on. It is a bit of a designer number: warm colours set off with rustic steel trims. Loads of rad obstacle like ledges into banks, the fattest rail I have ever seen, the thatched A-frame bump to bar, a big four, the slappy taco and a killer mini ramp with bank and tombstone. The guest judges for the day were Cale Nuske (seen absolutely destroying in the clip) and Mike Martin. The guest MC was the local vocal Sam Goodall. Andy Walker (local legend and founder of Adelaide’s elan skateboards) skated hard all day on a cruiser board. The temperature hovered around 40 degrees for the duration of the day, which made it the hottest qualifier to date. Despite the heat everyone shredded their way through to one of the best finals to date. continued here: http://skateboardingaustralia.org.au/2012-SBA-Am-Series/nike-sba-2012-am-series-south-aus-qualifier
