                    This video shows how I begin my 1st grade class. We usually start with the calendar and then move into a brief sight / spelling word practice. Every other day, or on special day, we will interact with the calendar activity on www.starfall.com. I try to integrate math, social studies, and literacy into calendar time, as well as address the cultural diversity we have by discussing the different holidays that are shown on the calendar. Right after calendar we wiggle, stretch, shake for about 15 seconds before we move into social studies. Sometimes I allow them to share anything they want with their partner before we move on to our next subject. Also, in the video you can see Mrs. Smith, one of the Assistant Principals, entering into the classroom. She informed me that she needed a video of a teacher using technology for her leadership meeting.
