This is my first short film for Guillaume Drapier, Founder of Comete Motocycles. Shot in one day, achieved without any budget. Shot in raw with Magic Lantern on a Canon 5D Mark III Director / Editor : Mathieu Maury Cinematographers : Romain Decomble, Eudes Quittelier Color Grading : Eudes Quittelier Text : Lise Beuve Narrator : Paul Bandey Music : A.Taylor – Nostalgia Mixing: Jesse James Rosquin – Studio Apollon XIII Actor : Guillaume Drapier Big thanks to : Ores-group, Nicolas Guittard, Julien Boulard, Stanislas Giroux, Nancy El Bahrawi, Julien Scussel, Anaïs Deféver, Jonathan Cj Tassin, Ewald Wilson, and all my friends and my family. Narration : There is a light that never goes out. It dwells deep inside us, giving us motivation and shaping our path. That light is the flicker of creation. The spark of an idea. The outline of a design. It is the desire that stokes our passions and makes us strive to go further. This internal fire feeds our dreams and puts a glint in our eye. It is the energy that ignites our creativity. It tills the land. It shapes and gives life to the medium being crafted. Every creation is imbued with the being that created it, as if the medium is breathing in the spirit of the craftsman. Isn't that the most beautiful way of leaving a trace of our existence, of our time on this earth? To create is the only way to traverse time, to wander through the ages. It is the only way to become immortal, to be infinite. If this light goes out, we die.

One of the most interesting, sad, but wonderful cities in Europe. Couldnt use tripod there, recomended not take it to avoid attract too much attention :) So everything was filmed handheld. Had to remove some good shots ruined by aliasing. Magic Lantern RAW 14bit video. Graded in Davinci Resolve. Music by Philippe Rombi. PS: For people who were asking me in private. Original file 200MB/s was encoded with 15MB/s to fit vimeo's file size restriction (500Mb), then another encoding by internal vimeo's codec to 720p with 2,7MB/s (HD quality) . All these causing artefacts & banding. PPS: http://skift.com/2014/04/28/cities-in-motions-10-gorgeous-videos-that-show-how-cities-should-be-marketed/

August 2011 Update Version AJ 5.9 from Anthony Newman is now available and is the most stable yet with support for external monitors (though still some issues to be resolved there). It also runs on Canon 2.0.9 firmware so no need to downgrade now. The link below now only contains AJ 5.9 and Canon 2.0.9. Please take note the disclaimers before downloading. www.moiraobrien.com/magiclantern/ 2012 Update The Unified Version of Magic Lantern has now been ported over to the 5Dmk2 and development of the AJ series has now been discontinued. I am glad to report that the beta version of the Unified 5DMk2 are generally working extremely well and give far better facilities that AJ5.9. If you wish to avail yourself of this, join the ML-Devel Google Group (http://groups.google.com/group/ml-devel), make a small donation to the developers, and you will be emailed a link to the firmware. I assure you, it is well worth it. I have been using it on all my shoots since early January.
