Forgotten Gods video is created as visuals for Lenkadu live shows. As the song, this imagery is intended to evoke a motion of pulsing: deep earthly and sensual. During composition, Lenkadu was imagining peoples discovering a new land, listening and attuning to its sounds. The footage of desert landscape and of red wind dance is a generous gift of the talented Kieron Jansch of UK (http://kj-kites.com/), shot at Ivanpah Desert Lakebed during the fun kiting festival North American Buggy expo in April 2012 (www.buggyblast.net/). Kieron has supported Lenkadu's visual numerous times: See Whereto visuals here vimeo.com/29926769 and Kieron's incredible work here: vimeo.com/kieronjansch. Red wind dance is inspired by the beautiful women on the Department of Tethered Aviation (http://dotarocks.net/). Check out a fantastic and a more evolved exploration of a dance wind under 'wind worshipping', beautifully conceptualized and promoted by Ruth Whiting (http://windfiredesigns.com/). Big thanks to Mischa Kroes of the Netherlands for his reflection on the early song versions. A loooooving thanks to Jeremy Summerton-French for a great final audio mix of Forgotten Gods. Thank you for your support, reflection and inspiration.

In March 2012 I was privileged to spend near on a month tramping round Nevada/California/Arizona, pointing my camera at those things that made the days special. Ostensibly I was there to finish shooting Navaro (a short film for Flexifoil, coming soon), but in my downtime I wandered aimlessly with my good friend Mark Esper (https://vimeo.com/esper). This short film tries to capture the essence of those aimless days; the sense of discovery, and feeling of joy at being alive in that light. It was made all the sweeter because of an early morning shoot with Lenkadu. Photographic aimlessness can be an unbelievably awarding, but also desperately frustrating endeavour [for want of a better word]. In the still image it can result in a glorious visual that needs no excuse at all - it can just be, a wonderful photograph in and of itself. Make that image move, however, and a world of doubt can suddenly assail: what's the point? What is this saying, or not, [as the case may be]? What "story" am I trying to tell? In the end, I gave up caring. This film isn't trying to tell a story, or be anything, other than a quiet celebration of the days I spent with my camera and some wonderful people in astounding places. The only premeditation on my part was in the form of the soundtrack, which simply reflects what I was listening to at the time; and fortuitously (inevitably) ended up being quite appropriate really. Two people need massive thanks for being instrumental in the making of this: Lenkadu for bearing with me during the bitter cold of dawn in the Mojave; and Mark Esper for his sage advice. http://lenkadu.com/ http://www.esperphoto.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This was the first time I'd used my new 5D mk3 in anger, and in my eagerness I forgot to disable in-camera sharpening and contrast. Now it's all setup the way I like it, but when shooting this film there was too much in camera sharpening (i.e. more than none), which is difficult to deal with after the fact. http://prolost.com/blog/2012/4/10/prolost-flat.html --------------------------------------------- Please take a look at my new project: http://mannedcamera.com I am now able to offer Arri Amira hire at significantly reduced rates for projects where I can accompany the camera and either assist or shadow an experienced Director of Photography. "Whereto" written by Lenkadu & Michael Ver Steegt - just released on Bandcamp. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://lenkadu.bandcamp.com/ http://lenkadu.com/ http://www.facebook.com/MichaelVSound -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dedicated to: Adriana Versteegt & Steven Jeffre -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lenkadu performances are immersive musical and visual worlds. Her music combines influences of electronic music, avant-garde sound art and various genres of live music, such as progressive metal and noise rock. She creates her beats, samples her field recordings, sings, and plays multiple instruments: kalimba, guitar, bass guitar and anything else that makes intriguing sounds. When Lenka asked me to cut a video for this track, her only rule was that I wasn't to spend more than a day on the idea. That was fine by me; my video work is often long and involved, shadowing whatever project I'm involved in - so having something short and sweet to work on was a lovely foil to my usual process. This video was shot in two locations: Ivanpah Dry Lake on the Nevada/California state line, 5273.577 miles from home, where Lenka and I met at NABX; and 0.233 miles from home, on Wimbledon Common, where Autumn (Fall) has just arrived. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things you might like to know: Camera: Canon EOS 5D MK2 Lenses: EF 28-70 F2.8L, EF 70-200 F2.8L Steadycam: Steadycam Merlin Editing: Apple Final Cut Pro 7 Post: Adobe After Effects CS5 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To support Lenka as much as possible I'd really appreciate it if you'd share this video in as many channels and groups as you can. --------------------------------------------- Please take a look at my new project: http://mannedcamera.com I am now able to offer Arri Amira hire at significantly reduced rates for projects where I can accompany the camera and either assist or shadow an experienced Director of Photography. The Flexifoil crew joined a horde of students on a beach in Wales this summer for the Beach Break Live music festival. The event is one of the UK's premier student music festivals and was attended by over 20,000 students. Five days of sun, beach sports and music made for a fantastic time. Flexifoil team riders, Craig Sparkes, Dave Roberts and Will Mckean, were on the beach the whole time; there to teach anyone who asked how to power-kite - which went down a storm! When not teaching they entertained the crowd; showing us how it should be done in a kite buggy. The track is the Dave Hughes remix of "Speak Softly" by the hugely talented Lenkadu: you can get Lenkadu's new EP "Redshift" here: http://lenkadu.com/store/ Please note that this video contains strobe lighting. Shot on a Canon 5Dmk2 using a 24-70 f2.8L and a 70-200 f2.8L Edited in Final Cut Pro 7 (definitely not X)! Tags

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
