So I saw all of these pictures of that volcano in Iceland nobody can pronounce the name of, so I figured I should go and do something that is not news footage but something more cinematic. But the flights to get over took forever as expected (somewhat). 4 days after leaving I finally made it, but the weather was terrible for another 4. Just before leaving it got pretty good for about a day and a half and this is what I managed to get. Wish I had more time. I missed all the cool Lightning and the Lava of the first eruption. But I figure this will just be a trial run for another day. I am of course accepting sponsors to send me back there for more please...!! haha Music: Jónsi - Kolniður (http://jonsi.com) Canon 5d mkII HUGE thanks for the Motorized Dolly via Dynamic Perception (http://www.dynamicperception.com) © Sean Stiegemeier www.in-perfidia.com www.twitter.com/sstieg

Waterfront Park, Portland, Oregon. Some details: Shooting 1 second exposures every 2 seconds A total of 2683 images in this video, played back at 12fps. Shot on 2 consecutive nights. First night was the panning tripod. While we were shooting, a guy called me back about an ad on craigslist for his Peleng 8mm fisheye. We went and picked it up at midnight and brought it along the 2nd night, when we did all the still shots. A part of this was featured on KATU Ch. 2 Portland on 05/07/08, At least thats what all my coworkers told me the next day because I missed it. Update: They didn't run the video, just a picture: http://www.vimeo.com/1013228 www.ffwdtime.com Update 06/22/2009 - Now you can download this video to your iphone/ipod as a podcast in itunes! Here are some experiments with the Sigma 4.5mm (and one of my favorite sequences with the Sigma 10-20 slipped into the middle). All the full frame fisheye shots were 'de-vignetted' or 'unwrapped' with flexify 2. With the exception of the first two sequences the rest were captured in HDR (3 to 7 brackets). I prefer the 'enhanced reality' HDR to the 'surreal' effect so you will see a bit of thoughtful clipping at the head and toe of the range. I tried my best to knock down the noise on the first shot but with the warping comes magnification of some regions. Reloaded this one a couple of days later after some slight timing rework and removing my neighbors passing in their pontoon boat in the second sequence. Enjoy and thanks for the kind words! Personal work from few weeks this summer in Michigan's beautiful upper peninsula mostly on The Keweenaw. This was shot only a few days after the first MX2 controller was born so it represents the first tests using it in coordination with with a 6' Stage Zero Timelapse Dolly. I didn't even start looking at this stuff until a couple of months or so ago due to too much going on. Finally releasing it in celebration of the dynamic perception system release! Enjoy and without further ado: The Dynamic Perception Stage Zero Dolly Kit is now available for pre-order at www.dynamicperception.com Track: "danny the dog" Massive Attack

Embarked on the timelapse dolly quest a little under a year ago & we have found Nirvana. This is the first (v1) of three prototype dolly designs currently being explored for the www.openmoco.org project. We're working really hard to get this tech out on the streets for indy filmmakers. These tests were conducted with 'slim' the simple pearl script interface. GUI is well underway: http://openmoco.org/node/122 Enjoy & Keep an eye out... BTW if your curious to see a source file, 1mm-ish per move macro accuracy test, and the prototype itself: http://www.openmoco.org/downloads/videos/omoco-dolly-teaser.mp4 - take it with a grain of salt though - it's only the first stab & changing for the better.
