In 2014, YWAM Medical Ships Australia initiated "Overcoming the Impossible" - a bold, new outreach campaign to fundraise AUD$6.5 million dollars for the purchase of a new medical ship, to replace the ageing Japanese fishing vessel "The Pacific Link" which had been operating with YWAM MSA in Papua New Guinea as a floating hospital for over 5 years. Since 2012, locally based organisation InterOil have been supporting the programs through the funding of AUD$140,000 worth of fuel. To help achieve the almost-impossible fundraising targets - this year, they have funded the creation of a documentary film, capturing what it's like to be on one of the outreach journeys into local communities. As part of the companies support, two of its staff and an employee from partner Westpac Bank joined the adventure in the Gulf Province, along with volunteers from all over the world, to do activities such as primary healthcare, community education and dental hygiene. This is their story.

wycliffe.org/giftcatalog In Papua New Guinea, the remaining need for Bible translation is extensive. Approximately 100 languages currently have translation projects in process and approximately 300 are waiting to start. To help address these needs, Wycliffe has created a special training program to help prepare local people to do the work. It is called mother-tongue-translator training, and it is designed to bring out the natural strengths of those best suited to translate the Bible into their language. Local translators learn, translate and revise to provide the Bible to their communities. And in the process, they are likely to grow closer to the Lord and encourage others in their communities to do the same.
