The UK’s premier extreme metal antagonists return with their new mini-album which includes an accompanying DVD with documentary and full live performance. A companion piece to last year’s triumphant ‘Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa’ album, the ‘Evermore Darkly’ CD/DVD package features new tracks and rarities, with a lengthy on-the-road documentary and a full live set filmed live at this year’s Graspop metal meet in Belgium, as well as the video for ‘Lilith Immaculate’. The CD features brand new track ‘Thank Your Lucky Scars’, plus a special remix of ‘Forgive me Father’, courtesy of Rob C from Anthrax, an extended rendition of ‘Lilith Immaculate’, as well as tempered demo versions of three ‘Darkly, Darkly...’ songs. The mini-album closes with a special taster from Cradle of Filth’s impending orchestral project, in the form of a haunting, classic reworking of fan-favourite, ‘Summer Dying Fast’. The ‘Evermore Darkly’ DVD contains footage from summer 2011, when Cradle of Filth embarked on a rapid spat of tours, accompanied by two eager filmmakers. The resulting documentary, ‘You Can’t Polish a Turd, But You Can Roll it in Glitter’, combined with performance and interview footage culminates in a forty five minute film of the not so glamorous reality of life in a touring band at work and play, as they trawl their way across europe over eight performances. The DVD includes an interview with ghoul-guide Dani Filth, interspersed and peppered with live footage and backstage shenanigans, culminating in the entire hour long set from this year’s highly anticipated Graspop festival appearance. My Dying Bride has been the leading light of doom metal since their debut album As the Flower Withers was released on Peaceville Records back in 1992. Influenced by acts such as Celtic Frost and Candlemass, the band’s heavy atmospherics have carved a huge worldwide following over the years and they remain at the pinnacle of the genre. Following the release of Evinta earlier this year, in which the band marked 20 years of existence with a release of symphonic compositions re-imagining past MDB themes, My Dying Bride present their latest chapter in the form of new release ‘The Barghest O’ Whitby. This single track, 27 minute epic represents the epitome of poetic grace and funeral soundscapes from one of gothic doom’s most celebrated acts. With a masterful blend of pounding guitar riffs, and sombre atmospheric passages, My Dying Bride takes you through the chilling tale of a supernatural entity hell bent on revenge. The Barghest O’ Whitby was recorded at Futureworks Studios, Manchester with long-time production partner & engineer, Mags. The release is the first to feature violin/keyboardist Shaun Macgowan, and sees the return of Shaun “Winter“ Taylor-Steels to the drum-stool for this recording. The cover artwork for The Barghest O’ Whitby also appears courtesy of vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe. To commemorate their first two decades of existence, My Dying Bride re-worked melodies and themes from their extensive back catalogue into epic, flowing symphonic compositions, incorporating new vocals and passages from Aaron Stainthorpe and French Opera singer Lucie Roche. The arrangements have been created in collaboration with keyboard maestro Johnny Maudling (of Bal Sagoth fame) and a collective of gifted classical musicians. The resulting album/triple cd set, Evinta, is presented in a deluxe twelve inch 64 page book with spot varnished cover. MDB's unique brand of mystery and misery has never looked or sounded as good. Limited to 3000 copies only. --------- My Dying Bride has been the leading light of Doom Metal since their debut album As the Flower Withers was released on Peaceville Records in 1992. Influenced by acts such as Celtic Frost and Candlemass, the band's heavy atmospherics have carved a huge worldwide following over the years and they remain at the pinnacle of the genre. ------------ "Evinta is a project almost 15 years in the making. An idea that has sat smoldering and never really had a reason to burn alive until now. Nine albums worth of darkness recreated anew to mark 20 years of My Dying Bride. Music arranged to the soundscapes of sorrows past. Finally the 20th anniversary allows us to release this music in a form it has been desperately, woefully waiting for. Originally formed in 1989 by mastermind Snorre Ruch, Marius Vold, & Bård Faust (Emperor), Norwegian band Thorns has inspired a great number of acts such as Satyricon, Mayhem, Dissection, & Emperor, mainly due to Snorre’s highly influential style of playing & creating riffs on the early Thorns demo tapes. So impressed was Euronymous of Mayhem, that Snorre became second guitarist in the band for a while & his riffs were used in classic Mayhem tracks. ‘Thorns’ was the band’s debut (& only, thus far) full-length studio album. It was released in 2001 & is a cult slice of highly-individual Norwegian black metal, including experimental & sometimes industrial influences along with synth passages to create a chilling yet clinical slice of extremity. The album was notable for featuring Satyr of Satyricon on vocals, a duty shared between songs with the vocal talent of Aldrahn (ex-Dødheimsgard) & the recording line-up also featured Hellhammer of Mayhem on drums. The outcome was a unique & original album which is today considered a cult classic release by critics. This edition of ‘Thorns’ contains 2 bonus tracks from the band’s 2000 demo; namely the album track ‘Existence’ but also a previously unreleased song called ‘TSoS’. This edition of ‘Thorns’ is completed by the inclusion of the rare video clip for the track ‘Vortex’, made by Halvor Bodin. Preorder now for 18th July 2011 release date 1. Existence 2.
