I know... Breck is too crowded, too flat, doesn't have enough snow, and a long list of other complaints. Well most this is probably true, but once in a blue moon conditions align to make Breck most radical. The Northwest flow deposited several feet of blower powder on us making for unreal skiing. Making closing day the best day of the year.

It really all depends on who manage to ski with on certain days. March 19th in Jackson I kept my ears open on the tram and found a couple of solid skiers heading exactly where I was going with the same intent, launch cliffs, and ski pow, all day long. Insert the Lovely brothers, Matt and Eric. A full day with these guys and you will be smiling drinking beers just one happy dude. The kind of insta-friends that only great terrain, 19 new inches and bottomless cliff landings will cement into history. These are the guys you want on your team, scouting cliffs for you, making sure your safe in their zones, and even spoon feeding you possibly the best pillow line in history. Cheers to the Lovely Bros for showing me around Jackson! And cheers to deep dry powder and like minded indiviguals getting on the same page for a day.

Sunday April 15, 2012. Mt. Baker is now in weekend operations for the month of April. Today was the last day of the Pinky Park being open, and it was sunny for most of the day allowing some young rippers to work on their park skillz. Check out the one footed board grab in the middle of the vid. Without any real new snowfall the skiing was less than impressive just adding one more day to the year and getting some "face shots" of sun and that precious commodity we cherish so much in the PNW, vitamin D.

March 19th 2012. This was a day to remember for sure. This is 2/4 videos all from the same day Monday March 19th. Here is my second run, stepping a little ways out of the gate into Zero Gravity. Rocky entrance with a unstable pocket ripping out all the new storm snow above the entrance, which made it a little techy. Stay tuned for #3 which will have more pillow crushing, pow skiing that Jackson is famous for the "cold smoke".

Mt. Baker has been a great place to be this winter. With the most recorded snowfall ever in March this year, it just seems like winter does not want to leave. Here is another locals perspective of the powder mashing and easy going vibe that is Mt. Baker. With storm upon storm bringing a new blanket of snow everyday, this is one of the few sunny periods where the snow was stable and for the taking.

After an unseen amount of snow something like 140 inches in 6 days, locals have been basking in the repetitive mornings of a foot of new every night for weeks on end. Here is some of the blower POV footage from the couple of weeks that was the "March Deepness". Big Pillow drops, fun hippy pow turns and good times with your buds. Riders: Pete Durr, John Wells, Carl Wollschlager.
